Right here, just weeks before the announcement of the Texas Social Media Awards and the start of SXSW I've gone an unfollowed over 4k followees on Twitter. I am sure the affect on my followers will be quite dramatic as well. So here's why I did it.
If Twitter Lists are the new measure of someone's social rep and prowess, why are we limited to 500 tweeps per list? Oh why, tell me why?
I can only tell if someone I follow is following me back if I click on the pulldown. I believe before, it was a simple icon that let me know if someone I was following was DM-able. And that is still the only clue, but today it hides underneath the pulldown instead of out in the open where I can see the status of an entire page of "friends."
So folks, here is a tipping point. Twitter has removed a feature, "Based on usage patterns and feedback" that was far and away the most useful discovery process I had. Follow someone interesting and see who they are tweeting with. It's easy enough to click on the @ed person's profile to see what the rest of the conversation is about. But now you CAN'T.
